Delhi, India - Speaking at the Viksit Bharat 2047 program at Hansraj College, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar made a bold prediction about the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and India’s economy.

Dr Jaishankar stated that AI will revolutionize our lives in a maximum of five years. He highlighted the rapid advancements in technology, citing the examples of self-driven cars and drones. “Drones used to be like something from a movie some years ago,” he said, emphasizing the pace at which technology is evolving.

The EAM also shared some optimistic economic forecasts for India. “Today, we are a little bit less than a USD 4 trillion economy. We expect in the next few years to cross 5 trillion,” he said. This growth would make India the world’s third-largest economy.

Looking further into the future, Dr Jaishankar expressed confidence that by the time India reaches Amrit Kal, it would be a minimum of a 30 trillion economy. This projection underscores the government’s confidence in India’s economic potential and its commitment to fostering growth.

The Viksit Bharat 2047 program, where these statements were made, is a platform for discussing and envisioning India’s future. Dr Jaishankar’s remarks reflect the government’s focus on embracing technological advancements and economic growth as key drivers of India’s future development.
