Alleged Rs 187 Crore Valmiki Corporation Scam Sparks Political Uproar: Union Minister Calls for Resignation

In a startling revelation, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has accused the Karnataka government of involvement in a massive financial scandal concerning the Valmiki Development Corporation, meant for the welfare of backward classes. The alleged scam amounting to Rs 187 crore has sent shockwaves through political circles, leading to demands for accountability and resignations.

The controversy unfolded when it was disclosed that funds intended for the Valmiki Development Corporation had been misappropriated and allegedly used during elections in Telangana. According to Minister Karandlaje, the scandal came to light tragically, as an officer involved in the scheme purportedly wrote a letter detailing the corruption before tragically dying by suicide.

Taking a firm stance on the issue, Minister Karandlaje asserted, "This Rs 187 crore was used in the Telangana election, this is our allegation." She further emphasized the seriousness of the matter by calling for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), urging the Union Home Minister to intervene.

In response to the unfolding crisis, the Karnataka government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the allegations. However, according to Minister Karandlaje, the SIT's actions are viewed suspiciously as potentially obstructive to the CBI's independent inquiry.

Accusations have not been limited to administrative lapses alone. Minister Karandlaje implicated Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directly, insinuating his involvement in the scandal. "Karnataka CM is involved in this...so we demand the resignation of Siddaramaiah. He should resign and face the probe," she asserted.

The demand for Siddaramaiah's resignation comes amidst escalating political tensions in the state, with opposition parties clamoring for transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds. The scandal has drawn widespread attention, raising concerns over the proper implementation of government schemes intended for the welfare of marginalized communities.

As investigations by both the CBI and the Karnataka SIT proceed, the public and political observers await further developments in what has become a critical test of integrity and governance in Karnataka. The outcome of these investigations is expected to have significant repercussions on the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections, as parties position themselves on issues of corruption and governance.
