Marking a significant moment in bilateral relations, President of Angola, Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenço, expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him in India during his ongoing state visit — the first by an Angolan head of state in nearly four decades.

“This state visit is taking place after 38 years. We see this visit as an important one for Angola, in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries,” President Lourenço said in a statement in New Delhi on Friday.

He also extended his gratitude to the Indian government and its citizens, noting, “We are very thankful for the friendly and hospitable manner in which we were received yesterday by the people of India.”

The visit is expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation in sectors such as energy, trade, agriculture, and technology. High-level discussions are scheduled between Indian and Angolan delegations to further deepen strategic and economic ties.
