BJD MP Sasmit Patra Hopes for Clarity on Operation Sindoor Discussion Timing

Indian politics witnessed heightened tension on Monday after two high-profile statements stirred debate inside and outside Parliament.

Speaking to the media, BJP MP Sambit Patra amplified a controversial claim originally made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. According to Patra, “In an interview recently, I heard Himanta Biswa Sarma say that a senior leader of the Congress party crossed the Attari border and stayed in Pakistan for 15 days. He did not take a flight to protect himself from getting caught. He stayed in Islamabad for 15 days, and Himanta Biswa Sarma also said that his children are also not residents of India.”

The claim has sparked fresh controversy, with BJP leaders demanding clarification from the Congress party. As of now, the Congress leadership has not issued a response to the explosive allegations.

Meanwhile, in Parliament, BJD MP Sasmit Patra addressed the ongoing procedural discussions surrounding ‘Operation Sindoor’—a topic gaining national attention.

“For the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, there was allocation of time relating to specific areas of the business that would be coming in,” Patra said. “As regards the 167 notice, for that the time allocation has not been done. Tomorrow, we will have a meeting. Hopefully, we will be able to reach a conclusion regarding when the discussion on Operation Sindoor and related areas will take place. The meeting is scheduled at 1 pm tomorrow and hopefully, we will have clarity on that.”

‘Operation Sindoor’ is expected to be a focal point in upcoming sessions, though official scheduling remains undecided as of today.

As political temperatures rise, the coming week is likely to see more fireworks in both chambers of Parliament and in public discourse.
