BJP Condemns Foreign-Funded NGOs, Accuses Opposition of Economic Sabotage

In a strong statement, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla addressed recent media reports revealing a concerning trend among certain non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in India. According to Poonawalla, these NGOs, which present themselves as social welfare entities, are allegedly funded by dubious foreign sources, with 90-95% of their funds coming from outside the country.

Poonawalla accused these organizations of obstructing key development, economic, and infrastructure projects, likening their activities to those of "economic anarchists" and "sleeper cells" acting on behalf of foreign interests. He pointed to public statements by financier George Soros, who has reportedly allocated $1 billion to disrupt India’s democratic processes, framing this as an attack on national sovereignty.

"This is not just about social welfare; it’s a coordinated effort to destabilize our economy and interfere in our democratic framework," Poonawalla asserted. He expressed particular concern over how opposition parties, particularly the Congress Party, leverage such reports to create economic upheaval in the country.

Poonawalla’s comments come amid heightened scrutiny of foreign funding for NGOs, as the BJP government continues to advocate for stricter regulations to ensure transparency and accountability in this sector. He urged the public to be vigilant against foreign interference in India's governance and development.

The BJP's stance reflects a broader narrative aimed at consolidating national interests and protecting the economy from external influences. As discussions unfold around the implications of foreign-funded NGOs, the party remains firm in its commitment to countering any perceived threats to India’s sovereignty and progress.
