BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has spoken out against the recent violence targeting students from Bihar in West Bengal, urging accountability from political leaders who champion constitutional rights. His comments come in the wake of troubling reports of assaults on Bihar students studying in the TMC-ruled state.

Poonawalla questioned the commitment of those who participate in high-profile initiatives like the Bharat Jodo Yatra, asking, "Is it prohibited for any Indian to go to any state?" He called on the West Bengal government to take decisive action against such incidents and highlighted the need for political leaders to address the issue of regional discrimination.

He particularly criticized Tejashwi Yadav, stating, "Has Tejashwi Yadav spoken out against the derogatory politics that labels Indians as 'Baharis' in certain states?" Poonawalla emphasized that the rhetoric used by some leaders perpetuates division among citizens, pointing to the behavior of Congress and DMK leaders who have insulted people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

In light of the violence, Poonawalla underscored the importance of unity among Indians, regardless of their state of origin, and called for a united front against such discriminatory practices. The BJP spokesperson’s remarks reflect growing concern over regional tensions and the need for political accountability in fostering a more inclusive environment.
