BJP Criticizes Congress' Fact-Finding Committee on Haryana Poll Loss

BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took aim at the Congress party's newly formed committee tasked with investigating its electoral defeat in Haryana. Poonawalla characterized the committee as more of a "Rahul Gandhi bachao committee" than a genuine fact-finding mission, suggesting it primarily seeks to assign blame rather than address the underlying issues of the party's performance.

"Since Rahul Gandhi embarked on the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress has suffered significant losses, with 11 elections lost and only 2-3 wins, often relying on external support," Poonawalla asserted. He highlighted that under Gandhi's leadership, the party has struggled, nearly losing 73-74 elections, including three Lok Sabha contests.

Poonawalla pointed out the presence of KC Venugopal in the committee, whose ticket distribution decisions have come under scrutiny. He noted that Kumari Selja, a key figure blamed for the Haryana loss, was notably absent from the committee's recent meeting. "This raises questions about accountability within the party," he stated.

He further criticized the Congress for its inability to acknowledge the disconnect with voters and the arrogance that, according to some allies, contributed to the party's poor showing. "Even Congress' own allies have voiced concerns, yet the party remains unwilling to heed this feedback," Poonawalla added.

As the Congress seeks to regroup and reassess its strategies in light of the electoral defeat, the BJP's remarks underscore the ongoing political rivalry and the challenges facing the opposition party in reconnecting with its base. The implications of this loss and the subsequent analysis by Congress will likely influence its future electoral strategies as it prepares for upcoming contests.
