BJP Leader Alleges DMK Involvement in Kallakurichi Hooch Tragedy

  • June 21, 2024, 2:43 p.m.

BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla has accused the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) of being directly involved in the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy. The incident, which resulted in the loss of several lives, has raised serious concerns about the illicit liquor trade in Tamil Nadu.

Poonawalla’s statement came during a heated debate in the Tamil Nadu assembly, where members of the opposition and concerned citizens attempted to address the tragedy as a national issue. However, according to Poonawalla, DMK members allegedly silenced those who raised the issue, preventing a thorough discussion.

The BJP leader further claimed that there exists a direct link between DMK leaders and the illegal spurious liquor businesses operating across Tamil Nadu. He questioned why Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is avoiding a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into the matter.

The Kallakurichi hooch tragedy has left families devastated and communities in shock. As investigations continue, the allegations made by Shehzad Poonawalla add a new dimension to the unfolding crisis. Authorities must take swift action to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable for this tragic disaster.
