Amidst controversy surrounding the Kanwar Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam has come forward to defend the directive issued by the UP Police regarding roadside eateries along the yatra route.

In a statement from Delhi, Gautam addressed the recent directive requiring roadside eateries to display the names of their owners along the Kanwar Yatra route. "The public living in areas for which the orders have been passed have no problem," he asserted, highlighting perceived local support for the directive.

Gautam further commented on the religious harmony observed during the Kanwar Yatra, noting, "The Muslims have no problem with it, they are welcoming the Kanwad yatris." His remarks aimed to dispel any notions of communal tension surrounding the yatra and emphasized the inclusive nature of the event.

However, Gautam criticized what he perceived as political opportunism surrounding the issue. "Unfortunately, some people are doing politics on it," he lamented, suggesting that certain parties or individuals were exploiting the directive for political gain rather than addressing genuine concerns or viewpoints of the affected communities.

The directive by UP Police has sparked debate and garnered attention across the state, with discussions revolving around issues of religious freedom, public safety, and community relations. Gautam's statements reflect the BJP's stance on maintaining law and order while ensuring the smooth conduct of religious events like the Kanwar Yatra.

As the discourse continues, stakeholders are keenly observing developments and reactions from various quarters to gauge the broader implications of such directives on communal harmony and governance practices in Uttar Pradesh.
