BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia commended the Election Commission of India (ECI) for its steadfast commitment to democracy, following the Commission's decision to address allegations made against its credibility. Bhatia emphasized the courage and constitutional integrity displayed by the ECI in engaging with those who have cast doubts on its functioning.

“The Election Commission of India has made every citizen proud,” Bhatia declared, underscoring the importance of transparency in the electoral process. He expressed hope that opposition leaders, particularly Rahul Gandhi and his party, the Congress, would act with a sense of responsibility moving forward.

Bhatia specifically criticized the Congress Party for its inconsistent stance on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), pointing out a pattern he described as "double standards." He stated, “When Congress wins, EVMs are 'Excellent Voting Machines,' but when they lose, EVMs become 'Evil Voting Machines.' Such double standards are not acceptable in a democracy.”

The BJP leader's remarks come at a time when the credibility of electoral processes is under scrutiny, particularly with approaching elections. The Election Commission’s engagement with its critics aims to restore confidence in the voting system, which Bhatia believes is crucial for a functioning democracy.

As the political climate intensifies, Bhatia’s comments serve as a reminder of the ongoing debates surrounding electoral integrity and the responsibilities of political leaders in upholding democratic values. The BJP is poised to continue advocating for the ECI's authority as both parties gear up for the electoral battle ahead.
