In a pointed critique of the Congress Party's stance on women's issues, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla has accused them of remaining silent on recent incidents of atrocities against women and failing to endorse Supreme Court directives aimed at women empowerment.

Addressing the media in Delhi, Poonawalla highlighted the Congress Party's purported lack of response to critical incidents such as the Sandeshkhali incident, the assault case involving Swati Maliwal, and ongoing reports of atrocities against women in Howrah and Telangana. He emphasized that despite these alarming developments, the Congress leadership has maintained a conspicuous silence.

Poonawalla specifically referenced the recent Supreme Court order promoting women's empowerment, criticizing Rahul Gandhi, the prominent leader of the Congress Party, for allegedly not endorsing or welcoming the court's directive. He asserted that merely paying lip service to constitutional principles is insufficient; genuine commitment to upholding its provisions is essential.

"The Supreme Court's order on women empowerment should have been welcomed by all, but unfortunately, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party chose silence," Poonawalla remarked during the press briefing. He underscored the need for political parties to actively support and implement judicial directives that aim to safeguard women's rights and promote gender equality.

The BJP leader's comments come against a backdrop of heightened awareness and public discourse on gender-based violence and women's safety across India. His critique of the Congress Party's response to these issues aims to draw attention to what he perceives as a failure in political leadership to address pressing societal concerns.

As the debate on women's rights and safety continues to evolve, Poonawalla's statements reflect ongoing political scrutiny and the imperative for all parties to align with constitutional principles regarding gender equality and empowerment.
