BJP MP Ajeet Gopchade has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah proposing the formation of a dedicated Border Management Authority to streamline and enhance the coordination of India’s multiple border security forces.

“In the letter, I mentioned our BSF, CRPF, CISF, Marine Coast Guard, and Assam Rifles — all these forces are tirelessly dedicated to the security of our nation, working day and night,” Gopchade said.

He highlighted the vast scale of India's borders: 15,673 km of land border and 7,523 km of coastline, both of which are vigilantly guarded by multiple agencies, including the Coast Guard. Drawing inspiration from South Africa's integrated model, Gopchade suggested that a unified authority could improve synergy, efficiency, and rapid response among the forces.

“The Prime Minister has given a positive response to this important initiative,” Gopchade stated, expressing optimism about the proposal’s potential to transform India’s border management framework.
