Delhi – BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has sharply criticized Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), for his recent comments regarding Afzal Guru. Tiwari’s response underscores a heated political and legal debate surrounding the 2001 Parliament attack.

In his statement, Tiwari accused Abdullah of challenging the Supreme Court’s judgment by siding with Afzal Guru, who was executed for his role in the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament. “This statement of Omar Abdullah is a direct challenge to the Supreme Court’s verdict. Afzal was hanged because he planned an attack on the Parliament. Although the terrorists failed to enter the Parliament, around a dozen of our security personnel lost their lives,” Tiwari said.

Tiwari emphasized that Abdullah’s remarks not only contravene the Supreme Court’s decision but also undermine national security. “Omar Abdullah siding with a terrorist is directly against the Supreme Court's verdict. The Supreme Court should take cognizance of this because these people have also been on the Chief Minister's chair and are making anti-country and anti-Supreme Court statements,” Tiwari added.

Furthermore, Tiwari raised a political query, questioning whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has reached an understanding with Abdullah’s party regarding their controversial stance. “Has Rahul Gandhi come to an agreement with Omar Abdullah's party for this reason?” Tiwari asked, suggesting a potential political alignment or endorsement.

The debate highlights ongoing tensions over sensitive issues related to national security and judicial decisions, with Tiwari’s comments reflecting the broader political and legal controversies surrounding the legacy of Afzal Guru and his actions.
