BJP Member of Parliament Eatala Rajendar has voiced strong support for the Waqf Amendment Bill, pointing out the misuse of Waqf properties by influential people, which he claims has failed to benefit the poor. In his remarks, Rajendar highlighted the struggles of marginalized communities whose livelihoods are threatened by the improper claims on Waqf land.

“Waqf properties are used by influential people and do not benefit the poor,” Rajendar said. He went on to mention a specific case involving a constituency with four Muslim villages, where the people have been engaged in farming for a living for over a century. “4-5 years ago, Waqf claimed the land. Where will the people go?” he questioned, emphasizing the impact this had on the livelihoods of the poor farmers.

Rajendar also noted that the Waqf Amendment Bill has been welcomed by the poor, as it promises to bring greater transparency and accountability to the management of Waqf properties. “This is why the poor are welcoming this Bill,” he added, reinforcing the notion that the amendments would ensure the intended benefits reach the communities that need them the most.

The Waqf Amendment Bill, which aims to address concerns regarding the management of Waqf properties and improve accountability, has sparked debate, with supporters like Rajendar arguing that it will help protect the interests of marginalized communities, while critics raise concerns about its potential implications.
