BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has sharply criticized the opposition's handling of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, accusing them of attempting to provoke the Muslim community. Tiwari’s comments came in response to the ongoing debate surrounding the bill, which has been met with considerable controversy.

“The opposition is just trying to provoke the Muslim community,” Tiwari stated, reflecting his frustration with the political maneuvering he believes is behind the criticism of the bill. He emphasized that the opposition's efforts to stir unrest have not succeeded, asserting that their agenda has ultimately failed.

Tiwari praised the Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, for his clear and comprehensive presentation of the bill’s provisions. “When the Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju defined and put forward the entire matter, the opposition was rattled,” Tiwari said. He highlighted Rijiju’s detailed explanation as a pivotal moment in clarifying the bill’s objectives and countering opposition arguments.

Addressing concerns that the bill disproportionately affects the Muslim community, Tiwari noted that all the complaints about the bill have come from within that community. He urged the public to carefully consider Rijiju’s definition and explanation to understand how the Waqf Board’s rules and regulations were misused in the past.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill aims to amend and streamline the management of Waqf properties, addressing allegations of misuse and improving transparency. Tiwari’s remarks reflect the BJP’s stance on the bill, which is framed as a necessary reform rather than a discriminatory measure. As the debate continues, the government remains focused on advancing the bill and addressing concerns raised by various stakeholders.
