Delhi, India – In a significant move aimed at strengthening Delhi's security framework, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari announced the appointment of 1,226 new personnel to the Home Guards, marking a major step in the recruitment process after nearly a decade. Tiwari, while addressing the media, highlighted that among the newly appointed individuals, approximately 250 are from the Civil Defence, a group that had previously been left in uncertainty by the local government.

Tiwari praised the Lieutenant Governor (LG) for promising to address the plight of Civil Defence personnel and ensuring that they were given due weightage in the selection process. "The people of Civil Defence, who were left helpless by the local government, had long been waiting for an opportunity. Our LG had promised them that we would do something for them, and today, we have fulfilled that promise by including them in the new appointments," he said.

A New Era for Home Guards and Civil Defence

The new appointments come as part of a broader effort to revitalize the Home Guards force, with the aim of increasing its efficiency and support for the police and local administration in maintaining law and order. Tiwari emphasized that this recruitment is just the beginning, with plans already in place to make permanent appointments for an additional 15,000 Home Guards.

“We are committed to ensuring that our security forces are adequately staffed and equipped to handle any challenges that may arise,” Tiwari stated. He stressed that these appointments were part of a larger effort to provide jobs and empower citizens, particularly those who have been serving in an ad-hoc capacity for years.

A Historic Step in Home Guard Recruitment

This recruitment process, which has not seen new appointments in the Home Guards for about 10 years, is seen as a crucial step in modernizing and strengthening Delhi’s security apparatus. The inclusion of Civil Defence personnel in the selection process is also being hailed as a positive move, as these individuals had previously worked without job security or benefits, despite their long-standing contributions to the safety of the city.

Tiwari also assured that the recruitment process would continue to prioritize fairness and transparency, ensuring that the most deserving candidates were selected for the crucial role of supporting law enforcement and maintaining public safety.

Looking Ahead: 15,000 Permanent Appointments

Looking to the future, Tiwari confirmed that the government is working towards making 15,000 permanent appointments in the Home Guards, providing greater job stability and opportunities for those in the sector. "This is just the beginning. We have a long-term plan to ensure that the Home Guards are a well-equipped, reliable force that can meet the growing demands of our city," he said.

The BJP MP's announcement has been met with positive reactions from both the newly appointed personnel and the wider community, who see this as a significant step towards improving security and providing employment opportunities in the capital.

Conclusion

With the new appointments in the Home Guards, including a significant number of Civil Defence personnel, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s efforts reflect a continued commitment to enhancing public safety and creating job opportunities for Delhi’s residents. As plans for permanent appointments continue to unfold, the Home Guards force is poised to play a more pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the city.
