BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Criticizes TMC Government Over India-Bangladesh Border Issue, Supports Immigration and Foreigners Bill

BJP Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari has responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement regarding the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, which aims to address the issue of illegal immigration and regulate foreign nationals in India. Tiwari praised the legislation, which he described as essential for tackling the influx of illegal immigrants, particularly from neighboring countries.

"Yesterday in the House, the law that was needed for people coming from abroad, especially for illegal intruders, was made... The country should understand. This is a matter of great concern," Tiwari stated, emphasizing the importance of the bill in securing India’s borders and protecting the interests of its citizens.

Tiwari also expressed frustration with the West Bengal state government led by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for its alleged inaction in securing the India-Bangladesh border. He criticized the TMC government for its reluctance to provide land for the construction of a fence along the 465 km stretch of the border, which has been a key point of contention in controlling illegal immigration.

"The (TMC government) is not able to give land to fence the 465 km India-Bangladesh border where our West Bengal border meets, it is showing reluctance," Tiwari remarked, highlighting what he sees as a lack of political will from the state government in addressing this critical issue.

Tiwari concluded by suggesting that the people of West Bengal should step forward and demand solutions to this ongoing problem, urging citizens to take a more active role in securing the state’s borders.

The comments come amid growing concerns over illegal immigration in border regions and the role of regional political dynamics in addressing national security issues. Tiwari’s statement underscores the BJP’s continued focus on border security as a key part of its policy agenda.
