BJP MP and Chairperson of the 'One Nation One Election' Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), PP Chaudhary, provided an update on the recent meeting held to discuss the proposed electoral reform. Chaudhary emphasized that the meeting was highly productive, with significant participation from legal and judicial experts.

"Former Solicitor General of India, Harish Salve, participated in today's meeting, and for three hours, the members had an extensive interaction with him. Additionally, members engaged with Justice Ajit Prakash Shah for almost two hours," Chaudhary said. The meeting, which lasted five hours, was described as "very positive" by the JPC chairperson, with discussions focusing on key aspects of the 'One Nation One Election' proposal.

Chaudhary further explained that the members of the committee sought clarifications on various issues surrounding the proposal, underscoring the growing interest and seriousness with which the committee is approaching the subject. The 'One Nation One Election' initiative aims to align the dates for Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections, a move seen by proponents as a way to streamline the electoral process and reduce the frequency of elections in India.

"The members are taking a lot of interest in the One Nation One Election proposal," Chaudhary noted, signaling the significance of the discussions and the committee's ongoing efforts to address the complexities of this ambitious reform.

The next meeting of the committee has been scheduled for March 25, where further deliberations are expected to take place as part of the continued efforts to explore the feasibility and implications of the reform.
