During a Supreme Court hearing concerning the rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College, BJP MP Saumitra Khan has launched a sharp critique of the Kolkata Police and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The case, which has drawn significant national attention, has been marred by allegations of mishandling and cover-ups, prompting intense scrutiny and political reactions.

In a statement made today, Khan voiced his frustration with the progress of the investigation, demanding urgent action from authorities. “Everyone demands that the rapists and murderers be arrested at the earliest,” Khan asserted. “The Kolkata Police Commissioner should be arrested first. The team which informed the victim's parents that it was a suicide should be arrested. The way the Kolkata Police is trying to cover up the case, we are scared whether this case will go forward.”

The case involves the tragic rape and murder of a female student from RG Kar Medical College, which has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice. The allegations against the Kolkata Police include claims of negligence and attempts to downplay the severity of the crime.

Khan also took aim at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, criticizing her response to the crisis. “Being a woman, Mamata Banerjee should take responsibility and resign,” Khan added, highlighting his view that the Chief Minister’s handling of the case has been inadequate.

The BJP MP’s comments come in the wake of a disturbing new development: another woman’s body was discovered just yesterday, further intensifying concerns about the safety and effectiveness of local law enforcement.

The Supreme Court is expected to play a critical role in ensuring that the investigation into the RG Kar Medical College case is conducted thoroughly and transparently. As the situation evolves, the pressure on Kolkata Police and the West Bengal government to address these serious allegations and restore public trust remains high.
