BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi Criticizes INDI Alliance Over Caste-Based Census Controversy

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has sharply criticized the INDI Alliance, questioning the coherence and intentions behind their stance on caste-based census and related issues. Trivedi’s comments come in the wake of a recent debate in Parliament over caste considerations and the handling of census data.

In his remarks, Trivedi addressed the confusion within the INDI Alliance, particularly focusing on the contradictory statements from its leaders. “Anurag Thakur did not name anyone specifically, so why are others taking this on themselves?” Trivedi asked, implying that the reactions and statements from the INDI Alliance may be self-generated rather than based on concrete accusations.

Trivedi also criticized the inconsistent positions of key opposition figures, such as Akhilesh Yadav. “Akhilesh Yadav asks us how we can inquire about someone’s caste, yet his party wants to know the caste of the entire nation. They need to clarify whether they want to pursue this or not,” Trivedi said, pointing to what he described as a lack of clarity and consistency within the alliance on the issue of caste-based data collection.

Additionally, Trivedi questioned why states governed by parties within the INDI Alliance—such as Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Punjab, and West Bengal—are not conducting their own caste-based censuses or releasing existing data. “Why are they not conducting it in the states where they are in power? It has already been done in Karnataka, yet they are not issuing the data,” he stated.

Trivedi concluded his remarks by accusing the opposition of engaging in theatrics rather than constructive debate. “There is a competition among the Opposition to see who can create more ruckus in the Parliament,” he asserted, suggesting that the opposition’s actions are driven more by political disruption than by genuine concern for policy issues.

His comments reflect the ongoing tension between the ruling BJP and the opposition regarding the handling of caste-based issues and census data, with both sides actively engaging in political maneuvering and public discourse.
