BJP Spokesperson Criticizes Delhi CM Atishi, Draws Parallels to Manmohan Singh

In a sharp rebuke, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has taken aim at Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, likening her leadership style to that of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. During a press conference, Poonawalla stated, “Today, Delhi has received its new Manmohan Singh,” emphasizing what he described as a lack of action and leadership from the CM's office.

Poonawalla criticized the manner in which the Chief Minister's position has seemingly been unoccupied, suggesting that the people of Delhi have experienced a “missing in action” leadership. He remarked, “They first received a 'jail wala CM,' then a 'bail wala CM' who had no power after the Supreme Court's conditions. Today, they received a 'proxy CM.'”

The BJP spokesperson further expressed disbelief at Atishi's party's recent comparisons to mythological figures, stating, “It is unfortunate that they are comparing themselves to Lord Ram and Bharat.” He added, “What can be said about those who have broken promises made in the name of their children? Will they be compared to Lord Ram?”

Poonawalla also criticized a recent government announcement prohibiting the bursting of firecrackers during Diwali, suggesting it was hypocritical given that celebrations were allowed upon the release of a man implicated in a liquor scam. “This is dual character,” he stated, underscoring his disapproval of the government's inconsistency.

He concluded by asserting that such comparisons to revered figures like Lord Ram, Bharat, and Laxman are an “insult” to the legacy these characters represent.

As the political climate in Delhi heats up ahead of upcoming elections, Poonawalla's comments reflect the ongoing rivalry between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, with both sides vying for voter support through pointed rhetoric and public engagement.
