In a politically charged revelation, BJP spokesperson and Member of Parliament Sambit Patra has amplified a striking claim made by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding an unnamed senior Congress leader. Speaking to the media in Delhi, Patra alleged that the Congress leader clandestinely traveled to Pakistan and stayed in Islamabad for 15 days.

Referring to a recent interview by Sarma, Patra said, “I heard Himanta Biswa Sarma say that a senior leader of the Congress party crossed the Attari border and stayed in Pakistan for 15 days. He did not take a flight to avoid detection.”

Patra further claimed that Sarma suggested the Congress leader’s children are also not residents of India. “This is not just a political issue but a serious matter of national interest,” Patra added, demanding clarification from the Congress leadership.

The Congress party has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.

The remarks have sparked a fresh political storm, with BJP leaders suggesting deeper scrutiny into the opposition’s foreign links, while critics accuse the ruling party of resorting to sensationalism during the ongoing election season.
