New Delhi, April 10, 2026: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday directed all concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of pre-monsoon desilting of drains across the city, stressing that no delay would be tolerated as the Capital prepares for the upcoming monsoon season.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officials at the Delhi Secretariat, the Chief Minister assessed preparedness measures aimed at preventing waterlogging and drainage-related disruptions during heavy rainfall.

Strict timeline for desilting work

CM Gupta instructed departments and civic agencies to work in close coordination and expedite desilting operations in all major drains and vulnerable areas. She emphasized that the work must be carried out on priority to ensure smooth drainage flow during the monsoon.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to maintain regular monitoring and submit progress reports to ensure accountability at every level of execution.

June 30 deadline set

During the meeting, CM Gupta set June 30, 2026, as the deadline for completing all pre-monsoon desilting work in Delhi. She warned that any delay or negligence in the process would invite strict action against responsible agencies.

She further highlighted that effective drainage management is essential to reduce the risk of waterlogging, traffic disruption, and public inconvenience during the rainy season.
