Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness has taken an extraordinary start in India. According to our early estimates, the movie has netted in the range of Rs. 28 to 30 crores on the opening day. It is the fourth biggest Hollywood opener in India after Avengers: End Game, Avengers: Infinity War and Spiderman: No Way Home.

The movie was always poised to be an excellent opener in India and had gained momentum in the advance bookings a month in advance. The South Asian markets have fared exceptionally well, as has been the case conventionally with all Marvel films. Even in the North, the film clocked excellent occupancy across the board, though the high business has also come as a result of high ticket rates.

In terms of footfalls for the opening day, the film is a lot lower than most of the Hindi films, which opened even at Rs. 20 crore in the pre-pandemic times. Hence, the high ticket prices are not deterring the prospects, though the low footfalls are indeed an indication of a section of the audience staying back, since strictly in terms of occupancy, the footfalls are pretty low.
