Day 3 box office collection for The Kashmir Files: Vivek Agnihotri's film earns Rs 15.10 crore.

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is doing well despite all odds. In spite of being made on a low budget with minimal promotion and marketing, as well as several controversies, the film is experiencing phenomenal growth in theatres. The Kashmir Files were released in theatres on March 11. On Day 3, that is Sunday, March 13, the film earned Rs 15.10 crore. Starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, the film is set in 1990 during the Kashmir insurgency.

The Kashmir Files had an extraordinary opening at the box office and earned Rs 3.55 crore on its release day. Despite all odds, on day three, huge crowds reached the theatres to watch the film. It even surpassed the other movies running in theatres in many regions. While The Kashmir Files had a limited release, due to demand, the number of screens and shows have been increased now. On Day 3, the screen count was 2000. The film had a very good growth on Saturday as it rose from Friday collections of Rs 3.55 crore to Rs. 8.5 crore. Vivek Agnihotri's film earned Rs 15.10 crore on Day 3.

Not just in India, the movie highlighting the plight of Kashmiri pandits has resonated well across the globe as it made Rs 2.15 crore at the global box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Limited promotions, Non-holiday release, Mighty opponent [#RadheShyam], Limited screen count [Fri 630+] #TheKashmirFiles emerges triumphant, despite so many odds. #India screen count on Day 3 [Sun]: 2000. I will finish the lifetime business of #TheTashkentFiles in 3 days (sic).

About The film

The tells the true story of the brutal sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. The Kashmir Files' cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others. The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.
