Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has departed for Gangtok, Sikkim, for a two-day visit aimed at engaging with armed forces personnel in the region. In a tweet, Singh announced his arrival and outlined his itinerary, stating, "I shall be reaching Gangtok today on a two-day visit to Sikkim. Looking forward to addressing the Army Commanders’ Conference and also celebrating Vijaya Dashmi with the armed forces personnel."

The visit comes at a crucial time as the Defence Minister is expected to discuss important military matters during the Army Commanders’ Conference, which gathers senior military leaders to deliberate on strategic issues and operational readiness.

Additionally, Singh’s participation in the Vijaya Dashmi celebrations underscores the government's commitment to honoring the contributions of the armed forces. This festival, which symbolizes victory and the triumph of good over evil, holds significant cultural importance in India.

Singh's engagement with military personnel is part of the broader efforts to boost morale and strengthen the ties between the government and the armed forces. His visit to Sikkim, a strategically important state bordering China, is also seen as a reaffirmation of the central government’s focus on national security and defense readiness in the region.
