Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Heads to Visakhapatnam to Review Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet

New Delhi - In a significant move, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh departed from the national capital on Friday to review the preparedness of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet in Visakhapatnam.

The visit comes at a time when the Indian Navy has been enhancing its operational readiness and capabilities. The Eastern Fleet, one of the crucial components of the Indian Navy, plays a vital role in maintaining peace and security in the region.

Singh’s visit is expected to provide him with a comprehensive overview of the fleet’s readiness to deal with various security challenges. The Defence Minister will be briefed about the operational preparedness, the ongoing training activities, and the readiness of the fleet to deal with any potential threats.

The Eastern Fleet, under the operational control of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, is responsible for safeguarding India’s maritime interests in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean, a region that has witnessed increasing naval activities of other powers.
