New Delhi, March 23: The Delhi Legislative Assembly has taken a major step towards digital transformation by launching an AI-powered chatbot named ‘Vidhan Saathi’ for its members.

With this initiative, the Delhi Assembly has become the first legislative body in India to introduce such an advanced AI-based support system for lawmakers.

AI Tool to Assist MLAs in Lawmaking

Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said that legislators often have to deal with complex laws and policies within limited time. The chatbot will provide clear, reliable, and data-driven information, enabling more informed and effective discussions in the House.

To Be Rolled Out from Budget Session

The AI chatbot will be available for use starting from the upcoming Budget Session beginning March 23.

‘Vidhan Saathi’ will help MLAs by:

  • Providing insights on bills, laws, and policy matters
  • Offering data-based analysis
  • Allowing users to upload screenshots for instant evaluation

Powered by Assembly Data and AI

The chatbot has been designed using internal legislative data, including:

  • Assembly procedures and rules
  • Past debates and discussions
  • Committee reports

This ensures that the information provided is accurate, contextual, and relevant.

Multilingual and Voice-Enabled Platform

‘Vidhan Saathi’ supports both Hindi and English languages and also includes a voice-enabled feature for ease of access.

The platform will be restricted to the 70 MLAs of the Delhi Assembly and can be accessed securely through a digital link and QR code.

Step Towards Transparent and Data-Driven Governance

The initiative is being seen as a significant move towards making legislative functioning more data-driven, transparent, and technologically advanced.
