Delhi BJP MP Criticizes West Bengal Government's Handling of RG Kar Medical College Incident

In a sharply worded statement, BJP Member of Parliament Sudhanshu Trivedi has leveled serious accusations against the West Bengal government regarding the recent incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. His remarks come amid growing scrutiny and controversy surrounding the case.

Trivedi's comments center on the alleged mishandling and perceived protection afforded to individuals involved in the incident. He expressed profound concern over the swift reappointment of the college's principal to another institution within just 24 hours of the event. According to Trivedi, this move highlights a troubling degree of protection from the Bengal government, raising questions about the impartiality of the ongoing investigation.

"The way protection has been given to the criminals in the Kolkata incident is more tragic than the incident itself," Trivedi asserted. He further criticized the West Bengal Chief Minister and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, questioning their apparent sympathy for the principal involved. Trivedi alleged that the delay in action and investigation might be an attempt to manipulate the situation, drawing a parallel to past incidents such as the Sandeshkhali case.

Trivedi’s remarks underscore a broader political contention. He challenged the West Bengal government to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), arguing that the CBI, as the highest investigating authority in the country, would ensure a more transparent and unbiased probe. The BJP MP also accused the INDI alliance parties of providing "crime cover" to their affiliated criminal elements, further fueling the political debate.

The RG Kar Medical College and Hospital incident has attracted significant attention and criticism, and Trivedi’s allegations add a new layer to the ongoing discourse. The West Bengal government has yet to respond to these latest accusations. Meanwhile, the call for a CBI investigation reflects broader concerns about the effectiveness and fairness of state-level inquiries in high-profile cases.

As the situation develops, all eyes will be on how the West Bengal government and the involved institutions respond to the mounting pressure for transparency and accountability.
