Delhi Budget Session 2026 from March 23–25; Major Infra Projects Get Cabinet Nod

New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has announced that the Delhi Assembly Budget Session 2026 will be held from March 23 to March 25.

According to officials, the Economic Survey will be presented in the Assembly on March 23, followed by the Delhi Budget 2026-27 on March 24.


Cabinet Approves Key Infrastructure Projects

During the cabinet meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat, two major infrastructure projects were also approved to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the national capital:

  • Barapullah Phase-3 Elevated Corridor

  • Six-lane elevated corridor with underpass on MB Road

These projects aim to reduce travel time and enhance the overall road network in Delhi.


Barapullah Phase-3 Project Details

The Delhi government has approved a revised cost of ₹1,635.03 crore for the Barapullah Phase-3 elevated road project.

Key highlights:

  • Connects Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar

  • Extension of the existing Barapullah corridor

  • Will provide signal-free connectivity from East Delhi to AIIMS in South Delhi

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time for lakhs of daily commuters traveling between East and South Delhi.

It is also likely to ease congestion around:

  • Sarai Kale Khan

  • Ring Road

  • DND Flyway

  • NH-24

The project is targeted for completion by June 30, 2026.


MB Road Elevated Corridor Project

The second project includes a six-lane elevated corridor with an underpass on MB Road, stretching from Saket G-Block to Pul Prahladpur.

  • Estimated cost: ₹1,471.14 crore

  • Implementing agency: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)

  • Execution: To be completed in two phases


CM Rekha Gupta Highlights Benefits

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that these infrastructure projects will provide relief to lakhs of commuters and help modernize Delhi’s road network.

She added that the initiatives are aligned with the vision of building a “Viksit Delhi” and contribute to the broader goal of a “Viksit Bharat” envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.


Focus on Urban Mobility and Development

The decisions taken in the cabinet meeting reflect the Delhi government’s focus on improving urban mobility, reducing traffic congestion, and strengthening infrastructure to support the city’s growing population.
