In a vibrant celebration marking 'Hindi Diwas', Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah underscored the significance of this year's event, which commemorates the 75th anniversary of Hindi's designation as the official language of India.

Addressing a gathering in the national capital, Shah highlighted that September 14th, 1946, was a pivotal day in India's linguistic history when the Constituent Assembly officially adopted Hindi as the country's official language. "This year's 'Hindi Diwas' is very important for all of us," Shah remarked, emphasizing the milestone of reaching the Diamond Jubilee of Hindi's official status.

Shah reflected on the journey of Hindi, noting its evolution and the various challenges it has faced over the decades. He reassured that there is no rivalry between Hindi and regional languages. "Hindi is a friend of all local languages. Whether it is Gujarati, Marathi, or Telugu, every language contributes to the strength of Hindi, and Hindi reciprocates the same," he asserted.

The Home Minister praised the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been instrumental in promoting Hindi both domestically and internationally. Under Modi's leadership, significant strides have been made to elevate the status of Hindi and other regional languages. Modi has actively showcased the importance of Hindi on global platforms, further fostering interest and respect for the language within India.

Looking forward, Shah announced an innovative initiative by the Department of Official Language: a new portal for translating Hindi into all languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The portal, powered by Artificial Intelligence, aims to facilitate quick and accurate translations of documents and speeches. "This technology will enable us to translate letters, speeches, and other communications into all regional languages efficiently, promoting greater linguistic inclusivity," Shah said.

The celebration of 'Hindi Diwas' this year reflects a broader commitment to linguistic unity and technological advancement, marking a significant chapter in India's ongoing journey of embracing and nurturing its diverse linguistic heritage.
