New Delhi — In a renewed push to combat the capital’s worsening air pollution, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a major initiative to deploy high-tech road-cleaning machinery across the city. The plan aims to improve cleanliness and reduce dust pollution, which remains a significant contributor to Delhi’s poor air quality.

“Air pollution is a very big problem in Delhi,” Gupta said. “Dirt and dust around the roads are also worsening the condition of Delhi’s roads. We had made a provision in our budget to buy and engage new machinery for cleaning.”

The Chief Minister revealed that a demonstration of the new machines was conducted to assess their effectiveness. “We plan to install 70 such machines on the roads of Delhi which will do the cleaning work,” she said, adding that these units will operate year-round, equipped with features like water spraying and smoke guns.

Highlighting the advanced capabilities of the technology, Gupta said, “This updated machinery will not only clean big garbage but also dust and soil. This is updated technology which will clean in a better way and reduce dust pollution.”

The initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to ensure Delhi remains clean and livable, especially as air quality continues to be a critical concern for residents and authorities alike.
