Delhi, India - The Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Samir V Kamat, emphasized the need for sustainable and green infrastructure in defence systems during a recent seminar.

Kamat highlighted the rapid pace of technological change and its influence on defence systems and infrastructure. “A lot of the things which have influenced other defence systems are now coming in the way of how infrastructure is built,” he said.

The Chairman stressed the importance of incorporating the latest technologies into technical infrastructure. He noted that while a good start has been made, there is still a significant amount of work to be done to catch up with the best practices in the world.

“The necessity of sustainable infrastructure, green infrastructure, is also now coming into the technical domain and the military domain,” Kamat said. He added that it’s time to look at how these latest technologies can be incorporated into our technical infrastructure.

Kamat believes that seminars like the one he attended are beneficial for sharing experiences and knowledge. He expressed hope that such gatherings could help work out a roadmap for introducing new technologies into construction.

“We can all get together, share our experiences, our knowledge, and then work out a roadmap on how we can build a plan on how to introduce these new technologies in our construction,” he said.

The Chairman’s comments come at a time when the world is increasingly focusing on sustainable and green technologies. His call for the defence sector to adopt these practices reflects a growing trend towards sustainability and environmental consciousness in all areas of society.

The DRDO, under Kamat’s leadership, appears to be ready to embrace these changes and lead the way in incorporating sustainable and green technologies into India’s defence infrastructure.
