EAM Dr S Jaishankar Meets Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe in Colombo

In a significant diplomatic engagement, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the President’s House in Colombo. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss key issues of mutual interest.

During their interaction, EAM Dr S Jaishankar and President Wickremesinghe discussed a range of topics, including trade, security, and regional cooperation. Both leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing collaboration between India and Sri Lanka.

Inauguration of Indian Housing Project

In a momentous occasion, President Wickremesinghe and EAM Dr S Jaishankar jointly unveiled a digital plaque commemorating the inauguration of 106 houses constructed under the Indian Housing Project. These houses are located in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Matale districts, providing much-needed shelter to deserving families.

Additionally, the leaders handed over 48 houses from model villages in Colombo and Trincomalee to their respective beneficiaries. These initiatives reflect the strong partnership between the two nations and underscore India’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s development.

The Indian Housing Project has been instrumental in addressing housing needs and promoting social welfare in Sri Lanka. It stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between India and Sri Lanka, fostering people-to-people ties and contributing to regional stability.

As both countries continue to collaborate on various fronts, this meeting serves as a positive step toward further strengthening their relationship and promoting shared prosperity.
