New Delhi — External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the strength and depth of India-Australia relations, marking five years of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

“Here we are not just with a transformed relationship, but actually marking five years of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Jaishankar said during a joint event in Delhi. He credited the enduring "mateship" to “strong leadership, trust, and mutual respect” from both sides.

He highlighted a recent example of solidarity: “Today, we saw one example of that as the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the strong sense of support we received from Australia after the Pahalgam terrorist attack.” Dr. Jaishankar also recalled that Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, despite being in the middle of a tough election campaign, personally called Prime Minister Narendra Modi to express his condolences and support.

The remarks underscore the growing closeness between the two Indo-Pacific partners in areas ranging from security to economic cooperation.
