He ifted his old cricket jerseys, ate the traditional Australian snack of Vegemite on toast and watched the ongoing first Test match between Australia and Pakistan in Rawalpindi in the final hours before his death, revealed his friend, who was staying at the resort in Koh Samui, Thailand, where the former cricketer was found unresponsive in his room. Warne, aged 52, passed away from a suspected heart attack.

Warne's longtime associate, Tom Hall, chief executive of The Sporting News website and a long-time associate of the legend, revealed that he found nothing "unusual" surrounding Warne's death.

Hall wrote on the website, quoting Warne. "The first question is, 'How can we watch the Australia v Pakistan test here in Thailand; the game’s about to start.'"

"Warney and cricket were never far apart."

A few balls into the Test series opener, and an ecstatic Warne jumped up and rushed off into his room.

Hall said that when "he came back with an armful of clothes, it looked like he had been at a yard sale."

"Shane had been working with me at The Sporting News for the past year or so, and he presented me with his jumper from the 2005 Ashes Test, his 2008 IPL shirt, and a one-day international shirt and cap to place in the TSN offices in Australia and the UK."

Hall further added that Warne had told them stories about his first season in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he had taken the Rajasthan Royals to a title victory. They then joked around for a while before deciding to have something.

"I have dined with Shane in many fine establishments, but rather than sampling some of the local Thai fare, we tuck into a plate of Vegemite on toast," said Hall.

Shane was chomping away: 'Geez, you can’t beat Vegemite with some butter. It's always great wherever you are in the world'.

"An Australian through and through—this was to turn out to be his last meal."

Thai Police on Saturday revealed that Warne had experienced chest pains before his death and had asthma and some heart issues, but Hall admitted that none of his friends who travelled with him to Thailand knew about him visiting a doctor, although he did complain to a friend of "some chest pains and shortness of breath."

"He knew he was a bit overweight and was getting back into training harder. His travel companions from Australia did everything they could, the local ambulance crews got there fast."

Warne's body was taken for autopsy on Sunday but police has declined to make any comment on it.
