Delhi, India – The relationship between India and Albania is “unique,” and this strong bond is rooted in shared history and values, according to Dikshu Kukreja, the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Albania to India. Speaking recently on the growing ties between the two nations, Kukreja highlighted the special connection that binds India and Albania—Mother Teresa, who was born in Albania and devoted much of her life to serving the people of India.

Kukreja noted that Mother Teresa’s legacy is a powerful symbol of the shared history and emotional ties between the two countries. "At the base, at the fulcrum of this relationship, as an individual who brings us two nations together, Mother Teresa, who was born in Albania and lived her life in India and served the world, is somebody who is a common bond between the two countries," Kukreja explained.

As both nations continue to foster diplomatic and cultural exchanges, Kukreja praised the current state of India-Albania relations, calling them “rock solid” and “extremely cordial.” He emphasized the importance of cultural, diplomatic, and political ties, which have strengthened over the years.

Kukreja also pointed out that despite differences in size and population, the two countries share more commonalities than one might expect. "One is a very small country with two and a half million people. The other is slightly larger with 1.4 billion people. Yet if you scratch the surface, you find that the two countries share more bonds than you can imagine,” he said.

Both India and Albania, according to Kukreja, are progressing rapidly as economies and are committed to advancing their nations, driven by a shared desire for growth and progress. “Progress is the benchmark of both India and Albania. They are both fast-growing economies in the world and yet they are very people-friendly,” Kukreja added.

Looking forward, Kukreja sees a bright future for the relationship between India and Albania. With both nations committed to mutual growth and cultural understanding, the ties between the two are set to continue evolving, building on a history of shared values and a commitment to a better future.
