India’s Untapped Potential: A Vision for the Future

In a recent interactive session on Northeast India’s integration with Southeast Asia and Japan at Kirori Mal College, Delhi, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar shed light on India’s unrealized potential and the country’s strategic efforts to garner global attention.

“We are today a country with an enormous potential, which is still vastly unrealized,” said Dr. Jaishankar. He highlighted the disparity between the number of world heritage sites in India and the volume of tourists they attract, indicating a significant opportunity for growth in the tourism sector.

The EAM also discussed the organization of the G20 summit, which was held across the entire country for a full year. This initiative was a direct result of instructions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who emphasized that no state should be left out of the event.

“This is probably the biggest thing that we have done in terms of getting the diplomatic attention of the world,” Dr. Jaishankar stated. He stressed that this diplomatic attention should not be confined to Delhi and a few other metropolitans, nor should it be limited to the usual tourist destinations. Instead, it should reach every state, and efforts were made to ensure this.

The session provided valuable insights into India’s strategic vision for leveraging its untapped potential and fostering stronger ties with Southeast Asia and Japan. As India continues to make strides in realizing its potential, the world watches with keen interest.
