In a recent statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Official Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, reiterated India's well-established position on the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, underscoring the country's commitment to diplomacy and dialogue as the path to a lasting resolution.

"Our position on the Ukraine-Russia conflict is well-known and understood as well. We have always advocated sincere and practical engagement between the two parties and other key stakeholders through dialogue and diplomacy to arrive at or find a lasting resolution to the conflict," Jaiswal said during a routine press briefing on Thursday.

The spokesperson further emphasized that India's approach has been consistent, focusing on fostering constructive conversations with both Russia and Ukraine, as well as other international actors involved in the crisis. "Our conversations with the two parties to the conflict, as well as with other stakeholders, have been in keeping with this larger approach," he added.

India has consistently maintained a neutral stance on the conflict since its outbreak in 2022, calling for an end to hostilities while supporting diplomatic negotiations. New Delhi has advocated for peaceful engagement and dialogue, positioning itself as a proponent of international cooperation rather than taking sides in the geopolitical dispute.

India’s position on the Ukraine-Russia conflict has been largely shaped by its broader foreign policy principles, which prioritize sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the importance of dialogue in resolving global conflicts. While India has refrained from taking an explicit position in favor of either side, it has made clear its opposition to the use of force in resolving disputes and has expressed concerns about the humanitarian impact of the war.

This reaffirmation of India’s stance comes amid ongoing international efforts to address the conflict and its devastating global consequences. India’s emphasis on dialogue and diplomacy echoes its longstanding commitment to multilateralism and peace, as it continues to play an active role in global forums calling for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
