In a move aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has unveiled a plan to promote art and culture in the heart of the capital. NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal announced that the initiative aims to build a “Viksit Delhi, Viksit NDMC”, by incorporating public art into the city’s urban landscape.

Speaking to the media, Chahal said, “We are taking forward PM Modi's resolve of Viksit Delhi, Viksit NDMC. The sculptures of eminent artists of the nation will be installed across NDMC areas.”

The initiative also includes the creation of dedicated spaces for artists to display and sell their work, fostering a direct connection between creators and the public. The project is expected to beautify public spaces, support India’s rich artistic talent, and encourage cultural tourism.

Chahal emphasized that the NDMC will work closely with artists and cultural institutions to ensure that the artworks reflect India’s diversity, heritage, and modern aspirations. The installations will be curated at prominent public spots and urban landmarks within NDMC jurisdiction.

This cultural upliftment initiative is part of a broader push to make New Delhi not just a political capital, but also a cultural hub reflective of India's evolving identity.
