Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on India’s civil servants to recalibrate their priorities and align every administrative effort with the national objective of building a developed nation, as the country advances toward its long-term “Viksit Bharat” vision.

In a message shared around Civil Services Day, the Prime Minister highlighted the evolving role of bureaucracy in an era defined by rapid technological change, rising citizen expectations, and complex governance challenges. He emphasised that civil servants are no longer just policy executors but key enablers of transformation at both local and national levels.

Modi underscored the need for a proactive, citizen-first approach in governance. He urged officials to focus on outcomes rather than processes, ensuring that welfare schemes translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives. According to him, efficiency, transparency, and accountability must form the backbone of administrative functioning in the years ahead.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of innovation in public administration. Encouraging officers to adopt digital tools and data-driven decision-making, he noted that technology can significantly enhance service delivery, reduce delays, and improve monitoring of government programmes. He pointed out that embracing such tools would be essential for achieving scale and speed in development initiatives.

Another key aspect of his message was inclusivity. Modi called for special attention to underserved and remote regions, stating that balanced development is critical for national progress. He urged civil servants to bridge gaps in access to healthcare, education, and infrastructure, ensuring that no section of society is left behind.

Highlighting India’s goal of becoming a developed country by 2047, the Prime Minister said the coming decades would require sustained commitment and adaptability from the administrative machinery. He concluded by urging civil servants to remain guided by integrity and a strong sense of public service as they contribute to shaping India’s future trajectory.
