Model-controversy queen, Poonam Pandey, who is currently on Kangana Ranuat's hosted show, Lock Up, recently opened up about her estranged husband, Sam Bombay, and how he would beat her up. She shared a few details about her life and said that Sam was too controlling and would not allow her to stay alone in any room or use her phone in the house. The conversation started when Karanvir Bohra quizzed Poonam if she really loved him. The Nasha actress then went on to reveal her ordeal and how he once beat her so much that it caused her to have a brain hemorrhage. She also spoke about his drinking habits.
"Yes, I did, and I don’t hate him right now. I just don’t like him. I dislike him. " Nobody wants something like this to happen to them. Who likes to get beaten up? I had four floors of house, a private garden, a private terrace, and I had everything. I had a big house. If I was in one room and was not allowed to be in that room, he would ask me why I was in that room. He would force me to be with him in the room he wanted. When I used to tell him that I wanted some time to myself and fresh air and wanted to go on the terrace, he wouldn’t allow it. I was not allowed to take my phone anywhere, and was not allowed to touch my phone in my own house. "
She further added, "I said fine, I will stay and just move around. If I love my dog and sleep with them, he would say I love my dogs more than him. What kind of statement is that? Why should I get beaten up for loving my dogs? Is that a reason to get a brain hemorrhage? Because I have one. "
Karanvir then went on to ask her when she was tolerating domestic violence and how long it took her to get out of it, "I’ve been trying for a long time." This has been happening for a good four years. He didn’t just beat me once, my brain injury (she points to the left side of her head) did not heal because he kept beating me in the same spot again and again. I would apply makeup, gloss, and laugh in front of everyone. I would act very cool in front of everyone.
Payal Rohatgi, who was also a part of the conversation, asked Poonam, Why did he used to beat you because he was insecure? "Insecure, I don’t want to talk about anyone else right now. If a person starts drinking from 10 a.m. till midnight, there would be nobody around to save us. The staff would get scared, they would leave, "said Poonam.
Payal again asks and says if she can get a little personal. She also adds that Poonam can refuse to talk if she doesn’t want to, and Poonam says that she doesn’t want to talk as she’s feeling weird.
Karanvir motivates her and says that he is glad that she tried and, in the process, got stronger and states that this is a good start.
