New Delhi, June 17, 2024 - External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a significant meeting today with United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in New Delhi, marking a pivotal moment in bilateral relations between India and the United States. Originally scheduled for February but postponed due to pressing commitments in the US, Sullivan's visit now coincides with the second meeting of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET).

The discussions during Sullivan's visit are expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation on technological fronts, including discussions on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and other critical areas. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and other top US officials are also part of the delegation, scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold talks with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The iCET initiative, aimed at fostering collaboration on emerging technologies, holds strategic importance for both nations, reflecting their shared commitment to technological innovation and security. A joint statement following the meetings is anticipated to highlight the progress made and outline future avenues of cooperation under the iCET framework.

Before arriving in New Delhi, Jake Sullivan participated in a Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland, emphasizing the United States' global diplomatic engagements and its commitment to international stability.
