State BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva has launched a sharp critique of the Delhi government’s handling of the city’s drainage and monsoon management. During a press briefing, Sachdeva highlighted the worsening situation in Delhi as the monsoon intensifies, attributing the ongoing issues to alleged corruption within the Delhi government's drainage maintenance efforts.

Sachdeva pointed out that Delhi’s drainage system, once efficient in managing rainwater, has failed to cope with the current monsoon conditions. "Earlier, rainwater used to recede quickly, but now it accumulates on roads and remains there for hours, creating severe inconveniences for residents," Sachdeva said.

He accused the Delhi government of mismanaging resources allocated for drainage cleaning, suggesting that corruption is to blame for the current inefficiencies. "The Delhi government has engaged in corruption under the guise of drainage cleaning. This has led to the inadequate functioning of our drainage systems, which are unable to handle even moderate rainfall effectively," Sachdeva alleged.

Sachdeva’s comments come amid reports of significant waterlogging in various parts of the city, exacerbating traffic congestion and public discomfort. The criticism underscores growing dissatisfaction with the local government’s preparedness and response to the monsoon season.

The BJP President's remarks reflect broader concerns about urban infrastructure management and government accountability, as the city grapples with the challenges posed by the heavy rains. Sachdeva has called for a thorough review and overhaul of the drainage system to address these issues and ensure better preparedness for future monsoon seasons.
