Strengthening Ties: Estonia-India Relationship Set to Grow, Says Estonia’s Secretary General

Jonatan Vseviov, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, highlighted the growing strength of the Estonia-India bilateral relationship, emphasizing its promising future in a recent statement. According to Vseviov, the relationship between the two nations is “good” and “outstanding,” with shared values such as democracy and a commitment to a rules-based international order laying a solid foundation for further cooperation.

Speaking to officials in Delhi, Vseviov acknowledged the already established ties between Estonia and India, noting that both countries have common interests in promoting stable and predictable political and economic relations on the global stage. However, he underscored that this was only the beginning of a much broader and deeper collaboration yet to be fully realized.

“Our foundation has been built. We share democracy, and we share a belief in a rules-based international order. We both depend on predictable and stable political and economic relations around the world,” said Vseviov. “But this is just the beginning. There is so much potential in high-tech sectors, education, and even areas like the defense industry.”

Estonia, known for its advanced digital infrastructure and innovation, has earned a global reputation for its e-governance and tech-driven solutions. Vseviov pointed to this as a key area where Estonia and India could collaborate more closely, noting that India, too, has made significant strides in digital development.

“Estonia has made a name for itself for being digitally developed, and so has India. So, I believe that there is a lot for us to achieve that we have yet to tap into,” he said.

Looking ahead, Vseviov expressed optimism about the future of Estonia-India relations. “I think what you will see in the future, in the coming weeks and months, is more engagement between Estonian and Indian officials, between our businesses, between our young people, and our societies,” he added.

As both nations continue to explore new avenues for collaboration, the potential for growth in sectors such as technology, education, and defense remains significant. With such a strong foundation in place, the Estonia-India partnership seems poised for even greater cooperation and mutual benefit in the years to come.
