Union Finance Minister Announces Bihar Deputy Chief Minister as Chairman of GoM on GST Rate Rationalisation

During the 53rd GST Council Meeting held today, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman disclosed pivotal developments regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, appointing Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary as the Chairman of the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Rate Rationalisation.

In her address to the media following the meeting, Sitharaman detailed the responsibilities entrusted to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. "Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been appointed as the Chairman of the GoM on Rate Rationalisation," she stated. "In the upcoming meetings, Choudhary will present a status quo report on the progress made towards rate rationalisation. Subsequently, the GoM will initiate deliberations on the actual rate rationalisation process."
