In a significant address to the Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister JP Nadda outlined the government's ambitious vision for expanding the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) network across the country. Nadda emphasized the goal of decentralizing world-class healthcare facilities to reduce the need for patients to travel to Delhi for treatment.

"Our vision for AIIMS is clear," Nadda stated. "We want people from every corner of the country to have access to top-tier medical care without needing to come to Delhi. The same high standard of care that AIIMS Delhi provides should be available at AIIMS institutions across the country, maintaining the same brand name and quality."

Nadda highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has worked diligently to establish a network of AIIMS institutions throughout India. "In the past, our most esteemed doctors would often travel abroad for advanced medical treatment due to the lack of facilities in the country," he said. "Today, under PM Modi's vision, we have successfully created 22 world-class AIIMS institutions across various regions."

The expansion plan is part of a broader strategy to enhance tertiary healthcare infrastructure and ensure that cutting-edge medical services are more accessible to the Indian populace. Nadda’s remarks reflect a concerted effort to address regional disparities in healthcare access and bring high-quality treatment closer to home for millions of Indians.

The initiative to open over 17 new AIIMS facilities is seen as a landmark step in achieving equitable healthcare distribution, promising a significant impact on the nation’s health sector and improving the quality of life for many citizens.
