In a fiery address at a public rally on Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting the party's past during the Delhi riots and calling for accountability regarding the Sikh community.

Shah's remarks came as he responded to recent criticisms from Gandhi, asserting, "Rahul Baba, what are you talking about? You have a history of disrespecting the Sikh community." He referenced the violence that erupted during the Delhi riots, stating, "Thousands of Sikhs were killed on the roads, and even children and mothers were not spared."

The Home Minister also evoked a controversial quote from Rahul Gandhi's father, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, saying, "When a big tree falls, the earth shakes," which he interpreted as an excuse for the violence during that time.

In a call for reconciliation, Shah urged Gandhi to wear a turban, visit a Gurudwara, and apologize to the Sikh community. "If you want to do something meaningful, take that step," he asserted.

Shah’s comments resonated with many at the rally, where supporters rallied around the BJP's message of accountability and governance. The event highlighted ongoing tensions between the BJP and Congress, particularly regarding historical issues of communal violence.

The rally in Tohana serves as a backdrop to the upcoming elections, with both parties keen to solidify their positions among key voter demographics. As the political landscape intensifies, the spotlight remains on the ongoing discourse surrounding community relations and historical accountability.

As reactions to Shah's remarks unfold, it remains to be seen how this exchange will influence voter sentiment in the lead-up to the elections.
