Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s recent remarks directed at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have sparked outrage and protests. Singh criticized Mamata Banerjee, alleging that she was “having a party” and “gyrating her hips” during the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) inauguration while allegations of corruption against her government persisted.

The Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, condemned Singh’s misogynistic statement and organized protests both within the State Assembly and outside the Parliament. Trinamool MPs demanded an apology from Giriraj Singh and called for his expulsion. The party also sought the intervention of the National Commission for Women, emphasizing the need for strict action against such remarks.
