Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Criticizes Opposition, Defends Budget Allocations

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, stirred controversy today with his remarks criticizing the opposition's reaction to the recently presented budget. Addressing the media in Delhi, Puri asserted that it is the opposition's duty to scrutinize the budget rather than simply express dissatisfaction.

Puri's comments were in response to opposition criticism regarding allocations in the budget, particularly concerning development in Bihar and the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2012.

"The opposition's work is not to be happy from the budget," Puri stated. "I would recommend them to analyze the budget... They should have also done something (for Bihar). Andhra Reorganisation Act was of 2012, it was their (opposition) work, now if we have done this, they should be happy."

The Union Minister's remarks come at a time of heightened political tension, with discussions on budgetary allocations for various states becoming a contentious issue in parliamentary debates. Puri defended the government's actions, asserting that the allocations were made in accordance with strategic priorities and the needs of the states.

"The Andhra Reorganisation Act was enacted in 2012, and it was the responsibility of the previous government. Our actions are a result of that, and the opposition should acknowledge our efforts," Puri emphasized.

The criticism leveled by Puri has sparked a fresh debate among political circles, with opposition leaders responding with allegations of neglect and inadequate allocations for states like Bihar. The budget, presented earlier this month, has been a subject of intense scrutiny and debate, particularly in terms of its impact on infrastructure and social welfare programs.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Puri's statements are likely to fuel further discussions both inside and outside Parliament, highlighting the ongoing friction between the ruling government and the opposition over policy decisions and budget priorities.
